THE WEATHER. Meteorological observation* taken at the jM.tßHetln Observatory, Christchurch, at 0 a.m. and 5 p.m. on ilay 22:
Winds—Northerly and moderate but freshening. Seas i Now Zealand waters) Smooth to moderate, but rising south of Cape Egmont and East Cape. Eastern Tasman Sea—Moderate to strong northerly winds. Seas moderate to rather rough and increasing. Weather—Dull generally, with mist or fog at many places. Rain probable, with many heavy falls. Temperatures mild. DOMINION REPORTS.
Auckland—A light north-east wind and an overcast sky during the day were followed by continuous light rain last evening. The barometer was steady at 30.00 in after midday. Wellington—The weather in Wellington yesterday was again beautifully fine. A light northerly breeze was blowing. Dunedin—Changeable weather prevailed yesterday, and a light easterly wind was blowing. Conditions were cold, the maximum temperature bein;' 50 degrees. The barometer was falling and registered 30.00 in at 5 p.m. FORECAST. (From readings taken at 4 p.m.) General Situation—A shallow cyclonic deDression covers the Tasman Sea and is advancing on to New Zealand. Pressure is still rather hieh to the eastward.
