The importance of the service given to the public by building societies was emphasised by Mr E. H. S. Hamilton at the annual meeting of the United Building Society of Christchurch (Permanent) last evening. "It is beyond doubt that a loan payable by fortnightly or monthly instalments is the best for the purpose of buying a home," he said. "This is so, whether looked at from the point of view of the borrower or of the lender. The building societies in New Zealand are doing a work of tremendous value to the community."
