REFEREES' ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. (PEESS ASSOCIATION T£L£G2AX.) WELLINGTON, May 19. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Hockey Referees' Association last night agreed to co-operate with the Australian Association with a view to securing uniform interpretation of the rules, the interpretations to be based on Major Rickett's Manual. The report of the interpretations committee on the new rules was received and copies will be forwarded to associations. For the practical examinations, six examiners were appointed and it was decided to add to their number in order to deal with the 87 referees who have passed the theoretical test and are awaiting the practical test to pass the A grade. During the year, the report stated, 18 referees were examined for practical work and four were successful. Fifty-eight sat for the theory and 38 passed. The following officers were elected: President, Mr Cordery (Southland); vice-presidents, Messrs Saunders (Taranaki) and Holland (Christchurch); secretary and treasurer, Mr H. F. Bollard; management committee, Messrs Barton-Ginger, Falconer, and Smith (Wellington); auditor, Mr Butcher; examination board, Messrs Williams' (Auckland), Wilson (Manawatu), Scott and Smith (Wellington), Holland (Christchurch), Sew Hoy (Otago); interpretation committee, Messrs Norton (Auckland), Scott (Wellington), and Holland (Christchurch).
