CROWN TENANTS' ASSOCIATION.
SECOND ANNUAL MEETING. The second annual meeting of the New Zealand Crown Tenants' Association at Timaru was presided over by Mr D. C. Kidd. After a brief discussion it was decided to terminate the association's affiliation with the Timaru Chamber of Commerce for the time being. The secretary reported having held a meeting in the Springston district, at Lincoln. Hopes of a chain of branches in that locality seemed assured. The balance-sheet for the year was read and adopted. The president, in his annual review, said the association had made commendable progress during the year, new branches having been formed in Southland, South and North Otago, Ashburton, Hawke's Bay, aiid Ladbrooks, and there were several others pending. New branches had been formed at Waimatef St. Andrews, and Pleasant Point. The reports from the various branches showed that these were worthily holding their own, and, in some instances, had doubled their membership. He thanked Mrs Markham for her secretarial w.prk. A special vote of thanks was carried to Mrs Markham by acclamation. The minute secretary, Mr C. F. Rose, of Hook, was also thanked for the splendid way he had kept the minutes. Mr Kidd was re-elected to the presidency unopposed, and Messrs A. E. Kerr and A. G. Morrison were elected vice-presidents: Mr C. W. Markham, secretary and treasurer; and Mr C. F. Rose, minute secretary.
