THE LEG THEORY.
ACTION URGED BY BOARD OF CONTROL. AGAINST BEST INTERESTS OF CRICKET. SYDNEY, April 10. At a meeting of the New South Wales Cricket Association, bodyline bowling was denounced by Mr E. A. Dwyer, one of the Australian selectors, and Mr R. A. Oxlade, a member of the Board of Control, said the board would probably decide not to send a team to England next year unless something was done. The association resolved unanimously: "That bodyline bowling is against the best interests of the game, and urges all affiliated clubs and associations to discourage it." Mr Dwyer said: "We must remove this insidious canker from the game, and if we do not I sincerely hope Australia will not send a team to England. Last season I saw some of our most prominent batsmen almost battered out of the game. To have seen the bruised bodies I saw was to be filled with pity." Other speakers criticised D. R. Jardine (captain of the Marylebone Cricket Club), who was accused of putting the winning of the game before the game itself.
