The newspapers belatedly disclose the British measures for the control of imports from Russia. They Culminate against everything British. "Izvestia" declares: "They cannot frighten us. The Soviet is determined mercilessly to mete out justice to all wreckers, including British wreckers." The formal indictment will be handed to the accused on Monday, but the trial i« unlikely to be before April 13. the Russian day of rest, so as to enable as many workers as possible to attend. The trial is expected to last 10 days. Counsel for Mr J. Cushny is Mr Peter LidofT, and for Messrs C. Nordwall and C. Gregory Mr Aaron Dolmatovsky The trial of employees of the Stalin engineering works, charged with "wrecking," resulted in sentences of 10 years and less. There were two acquittals. PLANS FOR DEFENCE. The five arrested Vickers engineers, who are on bail, have learned the nature of th" charges against them, and have individually selected and interviewed counsel from the College of Lawyers. Th_ plans for their defence are well forward. Mr Allan Monkhouse conversed with M. Vorokhodin (president of the College of Lawyers) regarding representation for Mr W. H. Macdonald. who is still detained. M. Nicholas Komodoff will appear for Mr Monkhouse and M. Ilia Braude for Mr W. H. Thornton. Both are noted counsel. BRITISH LEGISLATION. MEASURE PASSED BY COMMONS. (British ornciAL wmr.LESs ) RUGBY, April 7. By 291 votes to 41 the committee stage of the Russian Imports Bill was passed by the House of Commons, and the bill read a third time. On a Government motion it was recommended to limit the duration of the proclamation to three months.
