MATCH AT HORNBY. Playing in a match at Hornby on Saturday for the Revenge Shield, the Hornby Ladies' Club drew with the Canterbury Referees' Association, 5-all. The home team opened strongly and for the first 20 minutes had the better of the game. Hornby scored first, but shortly before halftime the Referees drew level. The Referees started the second half vigorously, soon being three goals up. Their efforts flagged, however, and although they added a fifth goal, Hornby drew level on the call of time. For Hornby, Misses M. McKenzie (3), L. Rowlands and D. Dickey scored goals, and H. Teague (3) and J. Almond (2) for the Referees. Messrs R. H. Thomson and J. R. Smalley were the referees. KAIAPOI CLUB. The Kaiapoi Hockey Club opened its season on Saturday afternoon with a practice game with the Hinemoa Ladies' Club. The men's team won by four goals to 0.
