HEAVY TRAFFIC FEES.

RICCARTON'S SHARE. "Riccarton does not get much of j the heavy traffic license fees, though [ the borough was recently adjudged to be liable for 10 per cent, of the cost of Hagley avenue," said Cr. W. Machin, chairman of the Finance Committee, at the meeting of the Riccarton Borough Council last evening. He added that the borough did not get 10 per cent, of the heavy traffic fees, though it would not be unreasonable to suggest that that should be the basis of allocation. It appeared that the whole question of the allocations would soon be thrown into the; melting-pot, necessitating the holding of a conference. On Cr. Machine motion, the Finance Committee's report was adopted, containing the following clause: "That in connexion with the agreement relating to the allocation of heavy traffic license fees, the City Council be advised that the Riccarton Borough Council would be pleased to attend and discuss matters in the event of a conference being held."
