INCREASE OF 4* A LOAF DECIDED UPON. Christchurch master bakers, at a moeting yesterday afternoon, decided to increase the price of bread by * halfpenny a loaf as from Monday nejt. The new prices will be:
Wellington bakers recently increased tbeir prices to the following scale:—
Christchurcli bakers stated yesterday that even with the new scale of prices, the public , would be getting their broad very cheaply. A year ago bread was selling at Is a 41b loaf, and now the consumer would be paying 21d less than that price.
