ST. ANDREW'S COLLEGE FETE.

VARIED ENTERTAINMENT. No effort has been spared by those responsible for the arrangements for the St. Andrew's College fete, to be held in the beautiful grounds of the college, Papanui road, to-day and to-morrow, to ensure that it will be one of the most varied and interesting entertainments of its kind ever presented in Christchurch, and that it will assist materially to help the college through the presont financial difficulties. A very gratifying public response has already been made to the appeal of the board of governor,) for funds.

One attraction that is bound to appeal to thousands is tho appearance of Rajah, tho wonder dog from Methven, who on both days will be seen in his full repertoire of tricks. This exhibition will be free to everyone attending. There will bo many attractions for children, these including Ferris wheel, chairoplane, and merry-go-round. A mockcourt has been arranged, and this is bound to craate plenty of amusement. It in understood that the Prime Minister will bo indicted on a *eriei of charges and tho result of his trial will doubtless be awaited with interest by the public in general. Tn addition to many side-shows there will be numerous stalls at which purchases may be made. There will bo plenty of fresh produce from the farms of Canterbury, in addition to eakee, flowers, »weet», art, books, work, cooked foods, and New Zealand manufactures. The fete will be officially opened hv the Trime Minister, the Et. Hon. G. TV. Forbes, at 2.30 p.m. to-day. Tho Mayor of Christchurch (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.)) "will also attend. Special arrangements have boen made for an adeciuato tram service from the Square to the grounds. NEW "SUNBEAM" PLOUGH. P. and D. Duncan's have deiignod the "Sunbeam" plough with the idea of reducing costs, and at the same time producing a plough equal in strength and facilities to tho bost that can be bought regardless of eost. Recognising that the farmer is the best judge of what he requires and wishing to assist St. Andrew's Collego the llrm is placing the plough on view for inspection and criticism. A prir.e of £1 1» is offered for the best criticism, entrie» boing Is each. All proceeds, together with a £ for £ subsidy by P. and D. Duncan, Limited, will go to Bt. Andrew's College. Mr Donald (inlanders has kindly consented Io act as judge.
