ADDINGTON MARKET.

- --♦ HEAVY ENTRY OF STORE SHEEP. SLIGHT ADVANCE ON EWE FAIR BASIS. (M nU» rOUUIU'UI- IDl'rOP.) The entry of stor* whoop at 'h« weekly metropolitan market at Addington yesterday was large, but the quality, apart from some attractive lines ol' two-tooths, was disappointing. There were vory lew attractive lines of serviceable farmers' ewes with mouths guaranteed. Values at Little Itiver and Waiau fairs earlier in the week formed a basis of values lower thau those at Addington last week, but part of the decline was regaiued on the best sheep in Addington yesterday. On the older sheep of uncertain mouths there was no s*uch appreciation. Some lines came from the North Island, some from the Chatham Islands, and some had been about a month on the road coming from the northern provinces. In the fat stock sections there was little of note. Lambs were very firm, fat catllfl a. little, firmer for the very best of the best lines, and fat sheep wor<i firm at late rates. STORE SHEEP. The entry »! stove sheep was not. quite so large as last weak, and a Urge proportion was made up of sheep from the SotrodH, North Canterbury, Nelson, Blenheim. and Batiks Peninsula. Many of the lin«"s had been at ewe fairs earlier in the seasou. The attendance of buyer* was very large at. tlm star!, and competition in I lie first half of the sale was fair. Late in the auction, however, there was little competition for any classes. There were a few lines of outstanding two-tooths*, very few really attractive, four-year-old sheep, and * superabundance of ewes of uncertain months which were cleared at nominal Bsrures. The basis of values tor Rood sheep, young and aged, was a little better than at either the Little River or Waiau fairs of Monday and Tuesday respectively, in some case? the appreciation being a full shilling a head. That advantage was lost to a large extent in the later stages of the sale, and the unattractive aged sheep did not participate in the firmness at all. \ good clearance was made, vendors accepting any offer to quit mills. The best bid of the day was IB? Od. made for a line of Romney cross two-tooths ev T.oiscl's (Gisborns), hot, it »»j not acre-pled, the line being passed in. STORE LAMBS. The entry of store lambs was well tinder half what, it was last week, and it was not A particularly good selection.
