A huji'.! crowd welcomed Mr Victor Smith, when he landed at .Cape 'J'own airport. A speaker, claiming that the flight was a record, pointed out that Mr Smith had.(crossed the Cape borders wiih JO hours in hand, in comparison with the previous record. Mr Smith said he passed through tour tornadoes. Owing to a terrific head wind, lie was forced to Jand. Luckily, he saw a tent. The owner was •a New Zealander, named Davis, who befriended him; otherwise he might have wandered for days. |Mr Smith, who was attempting to heat Mrs Amy Mollisou's record for a (tight from London to the Cape, was forced to land, through shortage of petrol, when only 250 miles from the Cape.]
