A radio message received at Sydney to-day states that the steamer Talleyrand has searched for 00 miles south of the spot indicated as the last known position of the missing KiiiM-n Maru. .Masters of other vessels in the same area declare that the weather prevailing when the S.O.S. was received would have carried the Kinsen Maru northeast into the open sea. The Talleyrand, which is bound for Rabaul. has been authorised to continue the search until Friday morning if necessary. • An earlier message read: Fears are now entertained that the silence of the Kinsen Maru after her noon message is accounted for by hei sudden foundering. Hope, however, has not been abandoned. There are- mure than suflicieiil lifeboats to accommodate the whole crew. bust night the master of the Talleyrand wirelessed that he hail searched from 2 p.m. until dark in a northerly direelion from the position given by the Kinsen Maru at noon on Monday, but had seen nothing. Gale, conditions were, experienced yesterday along the Queensland coast, and the progress of many ships was impeded. | The Japanese tramp steamer Kinsen Maru (4717 tons; was caught in a cyclone and reported on Monday that she was sinking 500 miles east of Towns ville, Queensland. She had 15 feet, of water in her engineroom, and her last S.O.S. described her plight as very serious. Water reaching the dynamo prevented further messages from being sent.
