TEX.EGBAU ) DUKEDIN, February .24. | With the. continuation of fine weather threshing, is .becoming general ,in Otago .and several lines of Central Otago-grovrn, -wheat hare already been. delivered to millers. The. quality of the wheat is good and there is no difficulty in having it passed as f.a.q. milling. : Deliveries coming in will be paid for this month hy an advance of 3s 4d for Tuscan f.0.b., grower's nearest port, 3$ 6d for Hunters, and 8s 8d for Velvet, Increments for later deliveries will not commence till May. Tho local fowl wheat market is being supplied with small lots of Canterburygrown on & basis of .about 3s 9d a, bushel, sacks extra, ex store. ,The turnover, how-, ever, is not largo now that southern wheat is offering more freely. It will not be long before fowl wheat is available • larger - quantities. Canterbury still, controls the oat market and several 'largo lines have been sold in this' district. ' According to reports from Canterbury'.large areas of oata which were put down for feeding of 'stock or for ploughing in will prove available for threshing consequent on the favourable weather -experienced in the. spring. Although prices are low farmers. are selling, as the yield .from these particular areas can be considered as found money, so to speak. This has had a serious effect' on values, and as a consequence it will affect the financial returns from those southern growers who sow oats solely, for the general market. The present value of A Gartens is 2b a bushel f.0.b., s.i., with B'b ' at: lower prices. Odd lines of oats have been threshed in Otago, but farmers are not prepared to meet the market. Both.', millers and merchants are being guided by values ruling" in Canterbury, and will »ot pay more than these values. The chaff market continues quiet,' with only small lots being enquired for. Tho value of. the best quality is £S 10s, sacks extra, ex store. The potato market continues weak and only small quantities ate reaching the market to .meet the immediate demand. Big-' ging of the main crops will be in full swing at the end of March and early in April.Little interest is being displayed in. the seed market. There is practically no demand from: (ho North Island and even At the low prices ruling merchants generally are not prepared to buy owing to poor pros- i pects of finding an outlet. Samples of rye- ■ grass have been offering more freely. Th'e value of this seed is up to Is Gd "a bushel on trucks, sacks extra, for best quality, j Cocksfoot, continues to be offered, in small 1 lots from Canterbury and tlie general quotation for machine-dressed Akaroa is Gd to' Did per lb.
