PERSONAL NOTES FROM LONDON. (TB.OU. OUfl OWH COB*E»PONDZKT.) LONDON, January 17. Dr. William H- Entwistle, M.A., B.Sc., Ph.D. (Auckland) has finished a post-graduate course in education o.t London University. He worked under the guidance of Sir T. Percy Nunn, of the Institute of Education, and Dr. Cyril Bijrt, of London University. Dr. Entwistle is continuing his studies in educatf9flal psychology, and is- preparing sonie papers to be published in the journals of the British Psychological So: ciety.
Mr N. S. Alexander (Auckland) has left Trinity College, Cambridge, to takes' up a position on the staff of department of King's College, however, continue research work for hia Cambridge Ph.D.
Recent callers at the High Commissioner's Office have included Mr J. +*• Herd (Wellington), Mrs J. 1. ford (Christchurch), Mr Stewart Mmson (Christchurch), Miss M. (Wellington), Miss M. Saunders, Mr and Mrs J. B. Bignell Mr and Mrs A. L. F. Mackay (Wellington), Dr. David Orchard (Christchurch), Mr and Mrs J. S. Atkinson (Christchurch), and the Rev. and Mrs W. F. E. Robertshawe (Auckland.
Mr J. E. Giesen (DannoyuHo) plays 4 half-back .for Guy's Hospital last baturdav in a Rugby match against BirJtenhW Park. The latter won by 18 points to 14.
Mr P. C. Minns (Auckland and Oxford University) represented Oxfordshire in a Rugby county ™ atcl ' Kent. The New Zealander did good work for his side in the three-quarter line. Play resulted in a win for Oxfordshire by 6 points to 0.
Naval Cadet If. T. Plugge (Taupiri), who arrived by the Port Dunedin, has been in London for a few days. He proceed? to-morrow to Dartmouth Naval Training College. This is the third member of the family of Col. A Plugge, to join the Services. Mr A. J. P. Plugge. who joined the ?»avy in iJ-4, will obtain his lieutenant's rank m February. Ho is at present serving in H M.S. Whirlwind, desrfcoycr. Flight Cadet J. A. Plugge, who joined the Air Force last September is at the 11.A.t. College, Cranwell.
Mr W. R. Brough (Dunedin) and Miss Broiigh ftre bringing _to an end their very enjoyable stay m the Old Coun trv. On arrival some months ago, they bought ft car and toured 2600 W' es in England and Scotland, and 1800 miles in Ireland. They also visited Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. They are crossing to Paris this week, where they will spend a few days, and then journey to Prague, \ienna, Budapest, Munieli, through Switzerland, to Marseilles, where they join the Strathnaver on February 3.
General Sir lan Hamilton celebrated his 80th birthday yesterday. He retains full physical sturdiness and mental versatility. At present ho is busy on the address which he, as J.oTd Sector of Edinburgh University, has to deliver in the Scottish capital nest month.
