THEFTS IN CITY.
A DARING ENTRY. Thieves broke into three premises ia the City and the suburbs:, yesterday morning and late on Thursday night* a particularly, iiavinK been carried out at the residenceof Mr S. Knight, of Allister atonue, •Merjr vale, while the occupants were sleeping. Mr and' Mrs Kiiiglit went to bed at 11.30 p.nn, leaving a bag containing; abput £B' by the bed, and on waking in - the morning it was found that the bajg had gone, and that the bedroom door had been tied open with a handkerchief, while other doors •in th&. house were ajar. It was apparent th# the thief had made attempts to enter the house by several windows, and on gaining entrance through the kitchen window, crawled in to the dining room through the servery. A blank chequn and a book of cheques were also stolen. . The office of the Mecca Service Station at. the corner of Boaley avenuo and Papanui road was also entered, and the sum of £1 taken. At the warehouse' of the Canterbury (N.Z.) 'Seed Company, Ltd., at Adding ton, a window was forced and several unsuccessful. attempts were made to break open a safe. Some small damage to the mechanism of the lock • was caused. .
