SCOUT NOTES.

[EXCLUSIVE TO THE FHESB.] (Issued from Metropolitan Headquarters.) Executive Committee. The Executive Committee met on February 16th. Tho chairman welcomed Mr Bobs, who i? the new representative of tho Hotary Club. A motion oi 'sympathy was passed with tho relatives of Scout Master Johnston, of Rangiora, all standing in silence. The chairman expressed regret that scout notes had not been issued for two weeks owing to .the want of information from the secretaries of the groups. Ho hoped that during the present yeaT full information of scout doings would be forwarded to headquarters for the interest of all concerned in the movement. A letter was received from the Mayor of Christchurch asking scouts to collect for the citizons' fund. The association's rules do not permit of scouts nesting as collector®, but it was resolved that, if required, scouts would bo available as messengers. District Scout Master Dyer asked that the letter should bo referred to rover seouts, who might be able to give some assistance unofficially, and this was done. "Policy, Organisation, Rales.'' The chairman brought the new issue (if the « Policy, Organisation, Epleg,'? to the notice of the commits tee ,«nd explained various points, emphasising the position of the Group Committee in New Zealand as compared with England. He explainod that the '"Policy, Organisation, Hules" had not yet. been adopted by the Executive Committee in the Dominion and would require very considerable amendment. In answer to it question he said that no notice need be taken at present of the amendments in tho proficiency badge testß, as the new tests would not be brought into force until after at least three months' notice had been given. Wood Badge Courses. District Cub Master Powell brought up the question of a cob course to bo held in December, and stated . that a number* of cub masters from this district would be sure to enterl It was resolved to apply to the Dominion Executive for its approval of such a, course. District Scout Master Dyer stated that it was time that a similar course for rove™ was held in Canterbury, as one had already been given in Wellington. The matter was referred to tho Hover Advisory Committee for consideration and report. The chairman stated that he hoped there would also be a Gilwell course for scouts held in this district about Christmas time. Wc have now three Deputy Camp Chiefs,, and there is no reason why these valuable courses should not be held at frequent internals. District Sally. District Scout Master Dyer suggested that a district rally should be held this year. While this was considered desirable, it was realised that it would require careful consideration and possibly might be difficult on account of the expense in-' volved, A preliminary committee was appointed consisting of the- District Commissioners, District Scout Master Dyer, District Cub Master Powell, Assistant Rover Scout Leader Lockwood, and Group Scout Master Ham» iltoh, to consider the project and : report to the next executive meeting, the first of the committee to j be held at headquarters next Wednesday evening. Pounder's Day Service. A memorial service arranged in conjunction with the Girl Guides Associaj tion will be held in the Cathedral to- ! morrow.
