The town has more wireless sets on-a population basis than any other West Coast town. Mr A. C. Milne, the Board's assistant engineer accompanied the party. The pa'ty first visited .the southern breakwater, where the extension work is Hearing completion. The outside of the extension has already been' titled with stone and the inside portion is being completed. Tt is not expected that the extension will materially affect the depth of water on the bar, but when the north extension work has been com-

ploted there should be an appreciable increase in the bar depth. The party ndxt visited the quarry. where the' usefulness of the steam dhoirel purchased from the Public Worka I>*partment some mouths ago "was indicated.
