NORTH CANTERBURY.

KAIKOURA. The following tenders have been accepted for the privileges in connexion with the Kaikoura Agricultural and Pastoral Show, to be held on March 10Publican's booth, Mr S. A. Pluck; confectionery stall, Mr F. 11. Hayward; luncheon booth, Mrs W. Mijligan. A cricket team from the East Coast will play a return match at Takahanga Domain on Saturday next. A return tennis match will be played at St. Michael's courts on Saturday next between players representing St. Mary's Club, Blenheim, and St. Michael 's Club, Kaikoura. Some interesting play may bo looked forward to. A dance will be held in the Suburban Hall in the evening in honour of the visitors. MOTUKARARA. The Motukarara branch of the Women's Division met last week, Mrs G. Tcmpleton presiding. The monthly meeting of the termors' Union was held on Monday, when Mr A. Leslie, of Lincoln College, addressed the meeting on some of the causes of diminishing fertility of live stock generally. On Wednesday a combined meeting of the church congregation and the Ten nis Club was held, Mr It. Tcmpleton presiding. Pinal arrangements for the autumn show were made, and officials were appointed. Messrs J. Bonnie offered to give a prize for most points in the show, 3Vlr J. Wheeler for grain and seeds, and Mr 11. Templeton cut blooms. DARFIELD. Mrs Moffatt presided at the monthly meeting of the Darfleld Mothers' Union, when there was a good attendance. The Kev. A. S. Moffatt briefly addressed the meeting on the aims of the union. It was suggested that tho programme fpr the coming year bo given by local members as far as possible. The hostescss for the afternoon were Mcsdame.s J. 11. Jarman, L. Register, and W. Williams. "Sky Bride," the picture showing at tho Malvern Talkies on Saturday, is a thrilling air drama foaturing Hichard Arlen, Virginia Bruce, Jack Qakio, and Robert Coogan.
