GENERAL ASSEMBLY. FINANCIAL STATEMENT. (FSESS ASSOCIATION TELEGUAM.) WANGANUI, February 23. The Presbyterian General Assembly was continued to-day, St. Paul's Church being crowded for tho Communion service. The Rev. W. McLean, Oamaru, delivered the sermon. At the close of the service the Assembly considered the report of the Aids to Devotion Committee. The same committee was reappointed and was recommended to keep in touch with tho movement among churches in all parts of the world. Submitting the report of the Life and Work Committee, tho convener said the outstanding feature of tho year was the success which had attendod tho work of the church evangelist, the Rev.. John Bissett. In all 3045 persons had joined the membership of tho church during the year, which was the largest number, in the history of the church. Tho financial statement for the year was submitted by the general treasurer. Tho giving of congregations to missionary and budget schemes had fallen from & 30,715 to £21,052. There was a deficit in tho church's funds of £12,480. Tho rovenuo from sources other than congregations had fallen off. Funds.under the care of tho treasurer amounted to more than £380,000. Of this the beneficiary fund represented £200,000, and the balance was made up of missionary and other trust funds. The Advisory Board submitted its report. Tho Assembly agreed to give to women of the Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union and the Young Women's Bible Class Union greater representation on the Advisory Board. Presbyteries were urged to confer with these bodies when considering tho budget schemes of the church. Tho Assembly will also consider the matter of 25 members of the Presbyterian Women's Union being associated with the Assembly when these matters are being considered.
