(HITCIAI, TO TH« PXKSS.) Thornton was made a bettor favourite in the Mataura High-weight Hack Handicap than Night Rose, but could not handle the sticky going, and Night Rose won easily by half a length from Taragona. Amelita was made favourite in the Hokonui Hack Handicap, but was indifferently handled by L. J. Ellis, and Jack a' Dandy beat her easily by two lengths. Steeton and Red Sea carried more than two-thirds of the pool on the President's/ Handicap, but were the last to finish. Hyßtrido attempted to win all tho way, but failed over the last half furlong to stall off Night Maid, who beat him by a length. King Balboa was in front at the distance, add was beaten by a neck for second place. Half the field in the Kiversdale Trot failed to leave the mark promptly and the race was confined to Winning Wave, Wee Scotty, and Grey Girl, the firstnamed winning easily by three lengths from Weo Scotty. Irish Blrdcatchor obtained tho best of the start in the Trial Handicap and led Pair Vision, Royal Emblem, and Flying Amy into the straight. Then Aela put in a good run and beat Royal Emblem by a length and a half. The stablematcs, Royal Duke and Palermo, carried more than half tho pool on both maehines in the Borough Handicap. Palermo was always first or second, and taking charge entering tho straight, just lasted long enough to beat the fast-finishing Fair Weather by a nose. Just John, & good second favourite on tho win machine, gave nothing a chance in the Telegraph Saddle Trot, and won pulling up by 10 lengths, from the outsider, Chiming Lou, and Senorita. Only Kemal Pasha and Cough were backed in the Autumn Hack Handicap. Kemal Pasha pulled very hard for over six furlongs. Lochard was last into the straight, but finished fast to beat Kemal Pasha by a length, with Young Sentinel a nock off, third.
