AUSTRIAN ARMS NOTE.
settlement reached. iitsmsß OFfICUX WUEMSS.J RUGBY, February '-1 • In the House of Commons the Foreign Secretary, Sir John Simon, was asked whether a settlement had been reached in the mutter 'of the recent importation of arms into Austria. He replied: "Ttie Italian Ambassador (.Diftuoi Dino Uraudi) saw me yesteruay tiuoUi arms recently sent iroui an Italian consignor to two Austrian factories. He informed me that the Italian Government, for its part, was prepared t° agree that the arms in question, which were sent to Austria for the purpose of being reconditioned, should be sent back to Italy as soon as possible after the fulfilment of the contract for reconditioning. The Ambassador informed me that some of the arms had already been sent back to Italy, ana it is understood the return of the remainder will be evidenced in due course by Customs certificates of Austrian authorities. The British Government, for its part, hopes the question can be considered closed ®y the general acceptance of this pro--1 The Austrian replv to the French arid British note confirms Sir John Simon's statement.
