MONTHLY MEETING OF DIRECTORS. SUCCESS OF BOYS' CAMP AT WAINUL The monthly meeting of th«) board of directors of the Young Men's Christian Association was held last evening, there being present: Messrs J. I. Boyds (in tho chair), K. G. Archer, S. L. Partridge, T. Evans, H. W. Heslop, J. B. Fleming, and tho general secretary (Mr A. J. McEldowney). Sympathy was expressed with the relatives of tho late Miss Borrie, who for many years had been an active worker for the association. The resignation of Mr W. C. Mackay from the rjositipn of a director was received with regret, tributes being paid to the work done by. him. Tho general secretary drew attention to the urgent need for further funds, and it was decided to have a farther meeting to deal with the matter next Monday at 5.45 p.m. National Convention. In connexion with the Young Men's Christian Association National Conven* tion, to bo held in Chrißtchurch on March 30 and 31, tho following appointments were made: — Representatives on the national council: Messrs J. W. Hillary and F. H. Sandall. . - , t Representatives to the convention, representing the Christchurch Association: Messrs T. Evans, J. E. Fleming, D. E. Parton, and S. L. Partridge. Messrs J. I. ISpyds, Irving Sladen, and A. J. McEldowney were appointed proxies for other associations. Keen satisfaction was expressed at the report of the suminer camp, and i% WBB decided to send letters of thanks ta all the honorary helpers who had contributed to the success of the camp. Summary of fceports. j The following is a summary of .the reports presented at tho'meeting of tho board. i Tho general socrotnry reported that arrangements we ro well in hand for tho winter programme, and that everything indicated . a most successful season. The orchestra had resumed its practice, and was having a record: attendance. The work of tho vocational guidance and of the employment department wns going on in close co-operatiOn with tho boys' employment committee. Sixty unemployed boys had joined the gymnasium class, and it was anticipated that there would bo a larno number nt the class in office routine and salesmanship; Tho boys' department had reopened its activities with good attendances. A membership campaign would be held durine tho first week in April, and nil departments would be organised for it. Boys' Camp. Tho following is a summary of a re./ port presented by the boys' work director on tho boys' camp:— "The weather was ideal for tho! camp, which was run for six weeks,! commencing on December 13, and end-1 ing on January 28. Although the numbers were down slightly nh excellent spirit prevailed. The general programme was good. The attendance for six weeks was 121; the high-

est number for one week being 85. Ihe ages of the campers were rounder 12 years of age .. 15 12 years of age .. 24 13 years of ago .. 22 -, 14 years of age .. 20 15 years of Ago .. 8 16 years of age .. 4 17 years of age .. 9 18 years of age .. 19 "It is a paint of interest that most Churches were represented, the denominations of the campers being:—Church of England 63, Presbyterian 19, Methodist 20, Baptist 8, Boman Catholic 7, Salvation Army 3, Christian Science 1, Brethren 3. Residents Thanked. "Although numbers were down .slightly, the desire amongst the boys to attend the camp at W&inui was keener than ever. ' Onto boy who was at camp for two weeks last year, and who -was this yeay 'given &n option ef going to the No*th Island with his parents or going to camp, stayed in camp for five weeks, and enjoyed it thoroughly. ' . "Special thanks are due to the residents of Vfyjnui who took such a great interest in the camp, and who co-operated in all that was planned for the benefit of the boys."
