Y.W.C.A. APPEAL.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR COLLECTION. To consider arrangements for the "forthcoming appeal in aid of the funds of the Young Women's Christian Association, a meeting was held in the Association's rooms yesterday. There were present:—Mrs W. Maehin (president), in the chair, Messrs A. C. Brethcrton and Stanley Jameson, Mcsdames M. McLeod, and A. H. Turnbull, the Bev. R. de Lambert, and the Bev. M. A. Rugby Pratt, Messrs G. Callender, J. h. Hay, E. Hitchcock, J. W. Hillary, H. G. Livingstone, A. J. MeEldowncy, M. MeLeod, F. H. Sandall, J. J. Staples, H. I. Walk, and Miss E. 8. Batt (general aecrctary). Apologies were received from the Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.), Bishop West-Watson, Mesdames E. Abernethy, (J. M. Lester, and F. M. Warren, Messrs i A. 8. Bruce, C. H. Clibborn, P. G. Grant, Denys Hoare, C. E. Jones, H. Lightband, J. H. Neville, F. M. Warren, and A. O. Wilkinson. The president, Mrs Maehin, on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Young Women's Christian Association, welcomed those present and expressed appreciation of the interest shown by their attendance. The Association was fortunate, she said, in having tho services of Mr Stanley Jameson in connexion with the campaign. Mr Jameson outlined the work already done in preparation for the campaign, and stated that its success depended almost entirely on the number of collectors who assisted on the day. He asked those present to assist *Liy themselves acting as collectors and by getting together groups ot* six* The following sub-committees were set up: —Executive, Mrs Maehin, Messrs Jameson nnd Bretherton, with the general secretary; publicity, representatives from the four newspapers with Messrs Hay and McEld'ownev; enrolment, members of the Board of Directors, members of the Advisory Board, representatives from women's organisations and from Young ' Women's Christian Association Mothers' Club, and Girls' Councils. It was decided to ask Messrs Calder Mnekny for the use of their premises for a central depot nnd refreshment room, and to approach the Director of. Station 3YA for permission to broadcast a hri«f appeal for collectors. • Tt was decided to make special arrangements for collections in blocks of offices. Prizes will be rriven for the larcest collections made by roving collectors after 7 p.m.
