LUXURY LINERS.
BRITISH LEADERSHIP. (ntOU OUJt 0*» CORKESrOXDEKT.) LONDON, January 6. The Cunaid Lino is transforming the interior of its tvvo largest ships, the Aquitania and the Bercngaria, in order to mako them beyond question "the most luxurious ships on the sea." To tho question, "Were not they that already?" tho reply in effect is that tastes aro changing:' A thousand men have ;jußt finished working day and night for six weeks on the Aquitania to anticipate passengers' every need and comfort, both material and artistic. "Ever since the war the American demand for private bathrooms > has been increasing," an official said in an interview. "So wo havo put in 55 extra bathrooms in the last five weeks. Every stateroom now has one—probably a record. "They have been demanding space also, with room for masses of luggage and for privato bridgo parties and cocktail parties. So wo have turned about 140 state-rooms into 70, which makes them among the largest in existence. Not a singlo first-class inner cabin, remains. "As for their decoration, the imposition of tariffs has led to an astonishing improvement in British wallpapers and ornaments, so wo have renewed these throughout with finer results than any foreign materials could have given us." The crowning achievement has been the erection of tho first genuine theatre afloat. This theatre has its Stage, curtains, greenroom, footlights, and fireproof, gallery for the projection of films.
