ACCIDENTS.
BOY'S DEATH. ACCIDENT ON EVAN'S PASS ROAD. v COLLISION WITH TAXI. Leslie James Gemmell, 15 years of age, living with his parents at 07 Southampton street, was killed ou the Evan's Pass road at Sumner on Saturday evening, when the bicyclo he was riding came into collision with a motorcar. Gemmell, who was a pupil of the Christchureli Boys' High School, was returning from Lyttclton about 0 p.m. on Saturday evening, when the bicycle lie was riding got out of control on the steep descent into Sumner from Evan's Pass and came into collision with a taxi going up the hill. Gemmell received severe head injuries from which ho died immediately. An inquest into the boy's death was opened yesterday and adjourned sine die after evidence of identification had been given. Mr E. D. Mosley wa9 the Coroner. STRUCK BY TREE. Struck by a falling tree at Charing Cross on Saturday, George Rodmell, of 18 Bracken street, Avonside, was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital suffering from internal injuries. Yesterday his condition was satisfactory. He was attended by the St. John Free Ambulance. COLLISION AT SUMNER. A collision occurred on Saturday-, evening between a car driven by Mr M. Allow, of Clifton, Sumner, and a motor-cycle at the junction of the Clifton and the Main Sumner roads. Mr Arlow was following a car, and tlio collision occurred just as the cycle was about to turn on to the Clifton Hill road. The driver of the motor cycle, Mr C. E. Wise, of Greyinouth, who is living at 35 Hoon Hay road, was unhurt, but a pillion rider, Mr M. Logg, of 52 Warrington street, received injuries to the ankle.
