CHRISTCHURCH LADIES' CLUB. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual general meeting of the Christchurch Ladies' Golf Club will be held in the Nary League Hall, 97 Gloucester street, on Tuesday, February 21. at 11 a.m. The annual report to be submitted to the meeting briefly summarises the activities of a successful season, and the statement of income and expenditure shows a satisfactory credit balance for the year. The annual report says: "During the season 16 active members were elected and four schoolgirl associates. The number of active members is now 156, including 18 country members. There are 94 honorary members and 25 absentee members and 10 schoolgirl associates. "In view of the fact that the New Zealand ladies' championship was being held in October at Timaru, it was deemed advisable to postpone the Canterbury Cup open meeting, which is usually held in the week following Easter week, until the end of September in order that the players ooming from the north might be able to compote. This alteration proved very successful, and a large entry was secured. The cup was won by Miss B. Gaisford, and Miss O. Kay was the runnerup. In conjunction with this tournament a competition, called the Shirley trophy, was inaugurated, which was won by Miss J. Stevenson, Miss It. Macfarlane being runner-up. "To take the place of the Canterbury Cup a tournament waß held in ! April, called the Canterbury Ladies' open foursomes, the winners being Miss Valmai Fleming and Mrs Char- ' tres. Mrs R. C. Byrnes and Mrs McClatcliie being the runners-tip. "Interclnb matches were played against Rangiora and Diamond Harbour, but it was unfortunate that we could not accept the kind invitations to play Charteris Bay and Rakaia. '"'he Cowlishaw Cup match was held on September 14, 17 clubs competing. The cup was won by Avondale with the excellent score of 310. "The Christchurch Ladies' Golf Club is very indebted to the members of the visiting clubs who so kindly gave the handsome cup which they called the Manuhiri Cup, to be won by the member of this club who gives in the best net medal score while acting as scorer in the Cowlishaw Cup competitions. The cup was won by Mrs M. J. Gresson. "The club championship was won by Miss Valmai Fleming, Miss Halmai Louehnan being the runner-up. "The junior challenge cup was won bv Miss G. Browne, the runner-up beins: Mrs Cyril Stringer. "Miss B. Rutherford, a member of the club, had the distinction of bcinc: runner-up in the New Zealand Ladies' golf championship. "During the year the nar of the course was altered from 74 to 73. "The thanks of the club for prizes "iven during the rear are duo to I.ady Wigram. Ladv Ward. Mrs_ FT. S. Lr"*--rence.
