YESTERDAY'S TRANSACTIONS. There was an increased turnover on call yesterday with the bulk of the' business in Government issues, which were in firm demand at advanced rates. Other sections of the market were on the whole firm at recent levels. Transactions, exclusive of vestibule business, were:— £IOOO NeW Zealand Government 4i Bonds, 1938. £6OO New Zealand Government 4 \ per cent. Bonds, 1939. £1250 New Zealand Government 5J per cent. Inscribed, February, 1937. £3OO New Zealand Government 5J per cent. Inscribed, September, 1937. 100 Commercial Bank of Australia (cum div.). 100 New Zealand Refrigerating (10s paid). 95 Electrolytic Zinc (pref.). 1000 Gillespie's Beaeh. New Zealand Government 4.1 per cent. Bonds due 1938 and 1939 advanced to dealings at £94 15s, with further buyers of the 1938's at £95 and of the 1939's at £95 2s 6d, no sellers offering; 5| per cent. Stock due February, 1937, rose 15s to dealings at £lOl, and there were further buyers at £IOO 10s, no sellers; 5* per cent. Stock due September, 1937, moved up 2s 6d to business at £.IOO 15s, closing quotations 5s on either side. Buyers of the 5J per cent. 1936 Stock raised their bids to £lOl 5s without attracting sellers. Commercial Bank of Australia shares cum dividend were fractionally firmer at 14s 3d, sellers staying in at that price, buyers at 14s 2d. Quotations for other Bank stocks showed little tionMiscellaneous. New Zealand Eefrigerating 10s paid shares realised 3s 9d, sellers staying in at that figu;o, buyers at 3s Sd. Buyers of New Zealand Breweries advanced their offors to 26s 4d, sellers at 26s lid. Colonial Sugars were firmer on buyers' offers £46 15s, sellers at £49. Buyers of Electrolytic Zinc Ordinary shares moved up to 16s Id, sellors at 16s 8d —the preference were firm at 265, closing quotations 2d on cither side. Gillespio's Beach Gold Mining shares remained unaltered at 9d and there wero further buyers at that figure, sellers at lid. Buyers of Golden Sands raised, thoir bids to 2s Bd, sellers at 4s 3d.
