Individual clubs therefore could not demand a share ot this money. Mrs Estall forwarded £5, being the amount raited by a series of bridge evenings held lii her home for the benefit of the Club. The olub captain reported on the toilowin" successes in the recent inter-club competitions:—Junior resuscitation championship, first and third; single-handed rescue, first and second; Benson shield, first and second; Sumner cup, first. The secretary reported the arrival ot a supply of medals for distribution anions those j members distinguishing: themselves in interclub competitions. The Life-Saving Committee reported on the appointment of Mr I'rcd Priest as professional beach patrol from Decenier 19, and stated that if funds permitted he would be kopt on for the duration o£ the school holidays. At present, however, great diilieulty was being experienced in raising sufficient funds for the purpose.
Football is making extraordinary advance iu Soviet Russia, says Mr C. A. W. Hirschmait, the former secretary of the International Football Federation. Ho has spent aome weeks in Russia, and states that a stadium is to be erected in Moscow to accommodate 1?5,000, which would mean that it would bo one of the largest in the world. This opens up pr< ~cts of Russia competing in international football.
