DISTRIBUTION OF TOYS.
CHRISTMAS TREATS FOR | CHILDREN. f j .Between 600 and 700 toys aua books | have been received by the Ohristchureh. i City Mission for distribution to-morrow j to Christchurch children whoso parents j are in circumstances that preclude their j buying the Christmas treaty so eagerly | looked for by the young people, the | distribution Trill be made from a tooiu ' at St. Jlarlin's House of Help,- which j -.rill be attractively decorated. During the last few weel;s u large ■ quantity of tovs have been made by boys | working under the Boys' limpioyment i Committee's scheme, and some 400 of i the gifts to he given out to-morrow; I all oi them extremely well maoe and j attractive, liave come from this source. Others have been provided by St. Barnabas's Church, Yendalton, and by private donorsIt should be a happy uay for the young people. Christmas decorations at the guest house will contribute toward the cheerful atmosphere, of the occasion, i three girls in fancy dress "'ill assist ; the children to select their gifts, and j "fairies" will help to amuse them m tho grounds. Members of the Student | Christian Union will also aid in their 1 entertainment, and a wireless set, lent 1 for the occasion, and a gramophone will ! provide music, in addition each child j will receive a slice of Christinas cal>e > —and cube is all too rare a lnsury ! in the lives of many of these i-hildren.
