ACCIDENTS.
RELIEF WORKER BURNED. (special to the press.) GREYMOUTH, December L 3. "William McKendry, a relief worker, received severe burns to-day when some tar, which was being heated for painting a bridge on the Omoto road, caught fire. His arms and hands and his right leg were badly burned, and his face less seriously. FATAL COLLISION. ({■HRS3 ASSOCIATION TZOEGfIAK.) DUNEDIN, .December 10. David James Menrs, aged 18. residing at AVaitati, died in the hospital this afternoon. He was riding a motorcycle from "VVaitati to Dunedui ami carrying a pillion passeuger, I redericK Bronssell, aged 19, also of Waitati, when the machine collided with a motor-car travelling north. The pair were thrown to the ground, Mears receiving a broken light leg and severe lacerations, while Brenssell suffered a severely lacerated right hand and arm. They were admitted to hospital and Mears died later in the day. Brenssell s condition is not serious.
