CASHMERE RECREATION CLUB.

REPORT ON YEAR'S ACTIVITIES. The tenth annual meeting shareholders in the Cashmere Hills Recreation Club, Ltd.. was hold in the pavilion, Valley road, on Tuesday evening. the president; Dr. F. V. Bevnn-Brown being in the chair. The annual report of the directors stated that although the receipts were loss than in the previous venr, the '•lull, after nllowine; for depreciation on buildings and plnnt. had a credit balance of £42 0s Id on its revenue account, which was principally due to a decrease in wages and interest. General expenses were more than last year, but this was set off by an increase in donations, which, considering the times, were very satisfactory. Notwithstanding the financial position, it was regrettable that there was a falling off in membership in the tennis and bowline: sections. Considering the drought of last summer the grass tennis courts and the croquet lawns we're in fair order. The bowling green had to be closed a month earlier than usual, its condition necessitating .special treatment in the early autumn. There was'every prospect o'l the green being in excellent order for the current season. Thanks were due to the Grounds Committee, Messrs K. Browning, W. R. Rainey, and J. S. Inwood, for their supervision and advice. The president, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, congratulated members on the satisfactory financial position. Although there had been losses of members, "it was satisfactory to know that a number of new members had joined each of the three sections, and he hoped that the current season would be a very successful one. \ Messrs P. Graham and- W W Keighley, retiring directors, were re elected, and Mr R. M. Lain* was elected to fill the vacancy caused bv the departure from the district 0 f Mr I I. Banks. Mr H. Bicknell was reelected auditor. Votes of thanks were also passed to the Ground Committee' and to Mr W. W. Scarff for his ance m arranging for unemployed labour oil (.he grounds.
