MUSTERERS' DOGS.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE I'BESS.
Sir,—''Once a Shepherd - ' is Tory perturbed at the thought of shepherds being brought to justice for cruelties to their dogs. He himself has given damning information when he tells us that tho effective method of correction is to set -hrce dogs on to one, Which 1 should say is the refinement of cruelty even worse than fencing wire (I trust the S.P.C.A. has taken note). The dog he mentions that rail on and scattered the ewes evident y did not understand what ho was required to do. Another dog could have been sent to do the work and so have taught the probably terrified dog. When a man can cruelly treat his dog it would bo too much to expect nun to be overflowing with kindness to ins wife and children. Sheep dogs arc valuable, and should receive tue greatest possible consideration. i should like to see a moving picture shown of sheep dogs at work. Tt would open tho eves of people to the wonderful sagacitv of the sheep dog and rouse the interest of the public in the often maltreated Collie dog. Ihe shepherd who thinks the S.P.C.A. must not tread on "his corns" but hand its monev over to different societies, torgets that th 3 money was given to the SP.C.A. to prevent cruelty to dogs and other animals, and it must do its job—Yours etc., ~„„„.,. PEFENDTCP OF ttie FAITHFUL. November 21st. 1932.
