Tho owner of the pair. Miss M. C. Wilson, of Reef ton, hopes lo be represented on the West Coast circuit by Taku Tama, who was blistered and spelled a couple of months back. Cbokcbore Tourists. Speedy Gallopers. The sprinters, Lady Quex and Orapai, continue to get through 1 their tasks in good stylo at New Plymouth, and were associated over a very fast five furlongs last, week, when they ran that distance in 6CUsec. Lady Qncx was in front at, t.liti finish, but it was a fine piece of work on the part of both. Lady Quox will probably take her place in the open six at Takapuna, and Orapai will bo found competing at Feilding. TROTTING NOTES. Reminders. Acceptances for the light-harness events to be decided at tho North Canterbury Meeting at Riccarton next Saturday will close to-day at 8 p.m. Nominations for the New Brighton T.C. 'a Summer Meeting will close tomorrow at noon. Another to Wrack. Trix Pointer, who 1 already has had several foals to Wrack, including Wrackler, Arethusa, and Eaclaim, has again foaled a filly to the same horse, and she will now be mated With Prank Worthy. Good Entries. The light-harness events on (he Ashburton County Pacing Club's programme have been well patronised by owners, a field of 23 having.been nominated for the, Melrose Handicap, while there are 24 entries for the Mayfield Handicap. A Forbury Candidate. Gay Parec looks very well after his recent, racing, and he did not make a mistake while working two miles at 1 Addington yesterday morning in 4ini n .'iOsee, but he does not appear to lie trotting with the same freedom of action that marked his efforts when he was previously trotting in winning form. The class he has to meet at Forbury cannot bo termed strong, and ho may gather in some of the.expenses of the trip before the Meeting concludes. In Minor Classes. j Buth Logan and Wheat, King have been working along steadily in view of near engagements, and both are in forward order. In the case of the latter she is set to concede a long start at, the North Canterbury meeting, and she will have be more favourably placed before she can be considered among the likely winners. In Forward Order. Since showing a glimpse of his oldtime form at the Cup Meeting, Harvest Child has continued to thrive on his work, and he is ready to give a good account of himself at the Forbury Park Meeting. His stable-mate Cyone carries a very bright appearance, and she worked well in company with Harvest Child yesterday morning when covering a mile and a half in 3min ]9soc, after the first mile had taken 2min lusec. Likes Riccarton. , Dolly Huon, who raced well the last time she ran on the Riccarton course, lias done well in her recent work. G. S. Smith will have her on'hand again at the same course on Saturday, where she is engaged in the View Hill Handicap. With Early Engagements. Aristotle, Golden Direct, Eeylena, and Key Direct all acquitted themselves well over a mile and-a quarter at Addington yesterday morning, when they were not unduly hurried over the final stages to register 2min 49 3-ssec. They are in good order for immediate racing. J. Jarden's Pair. Great Author bears an improved appearance since he was raced at the recent fixture, and he is completing his track work in a very pleasing manner. J. Jarden has this pacer on the improve. Don Chenault, another -member of the same stable, is being kept going with approaching Meetings in view. Light Tasks. Hollo is not being hurried along yet, but he has freshened up since his spell, and he moved freely with Colorado yesterday morning when restricted to a two-mile journey in omin 6sec. Notable Absentee. The absence of Prince Pedro from the Waikato entries indicates that he has not made the progress anticipated from the indisposition which caused his defection from the Visitors' Handicap at the Waikato October Meeting. At the time the trouble was not considered serious, and when K. A. McMillan visited Epsom last month for the Auckland Spring Meeting he was hopeful of getting his charge ready for December fixtures, and it was his intention to endeavour to qualify him for tho Auckland Cup if the limit was suitable. As Prince Pedro is on a 4min 34sec line, a win at Hamilton would have put him on the front of the big race at Auckland, but it is now evident that the ailment, considered to be kidney complaint, is more deep-rooted than at first expected. This is a misfortune for Mrs H. W. Burch, owner of Prince Pedro. as he has lately proved himself a genuine stayer, and looked tho type of horse to have reasonable prospects of capturing such a useful handicap aa the Auckland' Cujj.

The naming of young stock bred at ihe Stony hurst Stud has for years past been universally admired, and the gocd. work credited to Sir George Clifford for n, l<nig period has been ably carried on by Sir Charles Clifford. Four of 1 hin season's foals have been appropriately named as follows:—Brown filly by Paper Money from Moorfowl, Bird of Pn.wige; chestnut colt by Day Comet from Garnebag, Pannier; chestnut colt by Rapier from Bramblctye, Slasher; and chestnut colt by Day Comet— Swoopalong, Sky Pilot. Track Work at Eicearton. fry conditions prevailed for training operations at. Riccarton yesterday, and practically all the work was done on the plough, which, in spite of its dep'h, provided fast going. The Reverse "Way. . ■ This track was open for the first half hour to those trainers "desiring to work their horses the reverse way, in view of racing at Ellerslio. silver Scorn and Berate covered two circuits at. half pace, and Jaloux and A/a lea ran a useful seven furl ..igs in Imin -li.', o-ssc<*. ■..--.

A High-weight Candidate.- -.. Kak;ira oi->cn'cd""pVocccdiffgs' ; "the oidia:uy. way by covering seven furlongs in In'iin 3-Jncv. This marc 13 handily placed in the High-weight Handicap, on" Saturday, in which she will be' ridden by I). O'Connor. •. Muff executed a similar task in lmin :VZ . 2-ssef, and Meprtsant carried, oat strong work, './..... Juniper, with Shelter as. a mate, for half a mile, ran six furlongs in lean ISfice. Ho is likely to start in; two events on Saturday. .'-'•■■• V Shatter was restricted to long, .easywork, brushing home the last tkreo fur?. longs. He will be galloped the reverse way next week. Rocket and Fleeting Glance wore companions in a working gallop.over a mile, occupying lmin 47 25see, the last half, in 54 2-ssec. Ramo easily accounted for , Night Flyer over the concluding stages of a seven-furlong gallop taking Imm 32 2-ssce. Dorian and Morepork were together throughout a six-furlong task, executed iii imin 18 2-3 sec, the last half in. 51sec. Adelphi and Tout le Monde took lmin H'sec for the same journey, neither being seriously ridden. . . Idolise ran over half a mile_ comfortably in 53soc, and Spoon, who is coming io hand well, recorded similar time. An Encouraging Gallop. Craigavou, Monastic, and Locksby were destined to gallop .a. miLe together, but Locksley failed to leave with his males, while Monastic gave Craigavon a good start before Bottling down to gallop. They were, however," together at-the end of two furlongs and .finished abreast. CraigaVon's time was lmin 45 l-.wcc, but Monastic must have done ' much better. LoekslCy was later joined by t'liicf Light, and covered the journey allotted, but gave a very unsatisfactory display and has evidently, developed very bad habits. Improving. Lord Masham attracted attention by recording lmin 4 3-ssec for five furlongs in company with the Martanha'-gelding Xnlural. He has always shown' promi>ing form on the tracks, but in his few races to date has failed to get away on terms, and it is intended to put a strong horseman on him in the Trial Plate on Saturday to give him barrier education. Verden strode over six furlongs m I mm 17 3-ssec, and his new stable-mate, Rin was given easy work on'the sand. Silver Streak recorded lmin 17 2-ssee for a similar task, and did not appear to be doing his best. Sharp Thorn broke away in front of wise Choice, and they ran thus for half of a six-furlong journey, but the latter was in front oarly in the rim homo and beat her mate eomfor'tablv in lmin 17 l-sscc. * ' • . " A» Expensive Habit/ , Don■■, Jose cleared,/out from Star-»l-ootor< over, the business stages of a nix-fuHong gallop, taking lmin 17 4 5 »ec, the first half in 50 2-ssee. Don Jose would win races if he performed up to his track ability. Metal Bifd, with Golden Dart as a companion for six furlongs, covered mno furlongs in 2min 0 2-ssec.

Dual Derby Winners. While there will be other contestants for Derby honours 'at the Auckland T.C.'s Summer Meeting to be held next month, chief interest will centre in the return meeting between Taxpayer, Indianapolis, and Cloudy "Range, and even if they finish as at Addington the race will be well worth witnessing. Although for the last three years the New Zealand Derby winner lias failed to add the Epsom race to its list, Mr McKenzie's horse appears to have excellent prospects of emulating the deeds of Wrackler, Daphne de Oro, Taurckareka, Acron, Great Hope, and Locanda Dillon, who were dual Derby winners. FEILDING REHANDICAPS. (PRESS AS3OOTATIOS lELBGBAM.) FEILDING, i\ T ovembcr 22. Rehandicaps for Feilding are: Cup—Gay Court 7-6. Kowhai Hack Handicap—Gay Court 9-8, Kahunoke 7-13.
