CHURCH AND FINANCE.
VIEWS OF THE BISHOP OF WAIKATO. (WtJSSS ASSOCIATION TJEMSGRAST.) HAMILTON, November 2i. "Pounds, shillings, and pence figure too much in our religion to-day," said the Bishop of Waikato in the course oi a sermon at the Cathedral last night. "After 1900 years religion should be free. There should be no paid clergy in Hamilton to-day, and two bishops, one in the North Island and one in the South, should be sufficient for NewZealand.. After all these centurres of Christianity there should. be men elected from the community -to adi minister the Sacraments and preach without payment. The Church could then use all the money for missions. "If we had unlimited means we could evangelise the whole world in a hundred years." .
