HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION.
AWARD OF ESSAY PRIZES. At last night's meeting of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Historical Association, the secretary, Mr A. J. Campbell, announced the results of the essay competition conducted by the. association to be as follows: — . First prise of one -guinea: S. Dumpleton, Christchurch Technical College. Second prize of half a guinea: JTizard, Timaru Boys' High School. In view of the high standard of entries, the association had decided to award a second prize this. year. > The subject was, "The Life and Service of Sir George Grey in New Zealand,'' and the judges,, Miss Alice Candy and Mr A. JV Campbell, declared themselves satisfied with the number and standard of essays received;
