MOTORIST CONVICTED.
SEQUEL TO FATAL CROSSING SMASH. Following a fatal accident on the Church road, Terapleton, railway crossing on April 28th, Joseph Arthur Murphy, described as a rabbiter, of Tuam street, was charged in the Magistrate's Xoui t yesterday with driving a motor-car in a manner dangerous to the public, and crossing a railway lino when it was not clear. Murphy was previously charged in the Supreme Court with driving negligently, thereby causing the death 6f his wife, who was a passenger in the car, but no bill was returned by the Grand Jury. Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., who was on tho Bench, asked Murphy if he had anything to add to the evidence previously given. The defendant ' said that there was no traffic on the road at the time of the accident, which was the fourteenth that had occurred on the crossing. "In view of the bereavement ,vou have suffered I do not intend to fine you," said the Magistrate. On the ; charge of dangerous driving Murphy ' was convicted and ordered to pay costs, and was prohibited from obtaining a license until May 31st, 1934. On the other charge he was convicted and discharged.
