WELLINGTON, September" 8At the annual meeting of the National War Funds Council,.a report was submitted covering, tho grants remitted to various patriotic societies in the Dominion for assisting ex-soldiers suffering through, unemployment. It was fully discussed and gratification was expressed that the council's finances permitted such relief. Since 1927 grants have been remitted to various societies, totalling £88,674. Many of the societies grant relief by way/ of employment and secure subsidies, thus' increasing the sum available for relief, fcjince the last meeting of the Board, £14,991 had been distributed among 39 societies. The need of continued relief being still evident, it was decided to empower the executive to disburse the sum of" £IO,OOO during the forthcoming year. ■ r>^ e cE,°/ t8 cov e r mg relief showed that i.15,886 was disbursed during the financial year.
