Mr G. P. Aldridge, secretary of the New Zealand Boxing Council, left today for Westport. Mr K. Hawken left to-day for Sydncv, whore he will spenW a, holiday. Mr Cranleigh Barton, well known in New Zealand art circles, arrived to-day on a sketching tour of South "Westland. Mr G. S. Austad (Wellington) is visiting the West Coast. Mr Frank 'Robertson is spending a holiday with his parents at Kosstown. Reef ton. Obituary. The death has occurred lit Beef ton of Mr Alfred Heald, who had been resident in the district for tho past 45 years. Mr Heald, who was 62 years of age, was for many years in the employ of the Public Works Department, but later followed the occupation of goldmining. Mr Heald was a sufferon from miners' phthisis. The death occurred suddenly on Friday at Roes, of Mrs Elizabeth Galvin. Sbo was an old resident of Ross, and was aged 07 years. Unemployment' Committee. Mr H. G. F. Coles, Town Clerk at Hokitika, who has been acting as secretary, to the Hokitika Unemployment Committee, has resigned his position owing to his other duties making it impossible for him to continue the work. Re has been succeeded by Mr J. C. McClusky. of tho Forestry Department. Boxing. The Grcyiuouth Boxing Association met on Friday evening, Mr A. Beban (president) presiding. Mr G.' P. Aldridge, secretary of the New Zealand Boxing Council, was also present. Jock Cossil!, W. O'Connor (Titnaru), and Tommy Mclnnes (Auckland) wrote asking if matches could be arranged for them. It was decided to advise each of the applicants that the present was not an opportune lime for a match in Greymouth. The Marlborough Association wrote expressing its desire to pay a return visit to Greymouth during October. It was left to*Mr F. Bell to arrange a suitable date.
