"It is interesting to note thnt in the Palmerston district during the last few months several insulator changes have been effected in an endeavour to eradicate power leaks causing wireless interference," said the chairman of tlie Works Committee (Mr D. Boyd), in the course of a report to the Otago Electric Power Board. "'Thesa changes have been effected niter lenks had been located by a previous Board member (Mr "W. B. Galloway). How it is done I cannot fathom, but the fact remains that when the insulators pointed out by him are changed the wireless trouble occasioning the investigation has in every instance ceased." Mr Boyd added that it was a pifcy that it was not more widely known that such a thing could he done. A number of people could divine with a rod, and he was sure that if they communicated with Mr Galloway he would assist them in detecting power leaks. The Board had been saved a tremendous amount of fime and labour in locating leaks. The chairman said that if more pepole possessed Mr Galloway's gifr, owners of wireless sets would be saved a great deal of inconvenience. It was decided to express the Board's thanks to _Mr Galloway for the assistance which he had given in detecting leaks. One would almost be led to believe that the dairy industry, like the proverbial snail on the wall, has been slipping backwards when a comparison is made between prices to-day and prices forty years ago, says an exchange. Tu a report in the "Egmont Settler," Stratford's earliest newspaper, of December 7£h, 1892, London'advices place New Zealand cheese prices at from 58's to 60s, the markets being described as good. To-day, after forty years, and with the benefits from modern ideas and new and up-to-date factories and machinery New Zealand cannot get above the 60s mark, nor can it be said that complaints regarding quality are entirely absent. Again, the price of , land in those days was anything between £2O and £3O lan acre, while to day it is difficult to secure good land at less than £SO an acre.
