SATURDAY'S TRANSACTIONS

There was a moderate turnover on call on Saturday, and price levels generally were well maintained. Transactions, exclusive of vestibule business were : £2OO Christchuwh Drainage Board, ni per cent., 1965. ]OO Comm. Bank of Aust, 300 Bank of New Zealand. 300 Huddart Parker. 100 N.Z. Refrig. (£1 paid). 700 N.Z. Kef rig. (10s paid). 300 N.Z. Breweries. 200 Mt. Lyell. 1500 Golden Point. A parcel of Christchurch Drainage Board 5A per cent. Debentures, due 1965, changed'hands at par. Commercial Bank, of Australia shares remained unaltered at 13s 8d and there were further sellers at that price, buyers at 13s 7d. Buyers of the preference moved up to £6 17s, sellers firm at £7 ss. Bank of New Zealand recovered to dealings at 465, 46s 2d, and 46s 3d, buyers staying in at the highest price, sellers at 46s 4d—the "D" Mortgage shares claimed buyers at 275, but sellers were reticent. Miscellaneous. Buyers of Standard Insurance shares, cum dividend, raised their bids to 42s 6d.without attracting sellers. Goldsbrough Morts were firmer on buyers' offers 23s 9d, sellers at 245. Huddart Parkers hardened to 275, closing quotations 3d on either side. New Zealand Refrigerating fully paid shares had business at lis 4d, market closing lis 3d buyers, lis 9d : sellers—'■the 10s paid shares relapsed to 4s 3d, buyers staying in at that figure, sellers at 4s 4d. Auckland' Gas shares had improved demand at 21s, sellers at 21s 63. Buyers of Christchurch Gas shares moved up a couple of points to 24s 4d, sellers at 24s 9d. Tooths Brewery shares rose 6d to 27s 6d, and more were wanted at that figure, sellers at 27s 9d. Quotations for Colonial Sugars, Dunlop Rubbers, and Electrolytic Zincs revealed firmer markets. Mt. Lyells were steady with dealings and further buyers at 19s Cd sellers at 19s 7d. Buyers of Taranaki Oils advanced their offers to Is 4d without attracting sellers. Golden Points remained unaltered at 7d and there were further sellers at that price, buyers at 6-3 d.
