LOAN SANCTIONED,

The Christchureh Tramway Board has been granted permission by tho Local Government Loans Board to borrow the £10,500 necessary Vo convert 2.3 of the Board's trams into curs of the one-iuau type. Notification of the ppproval was received by the Board on Saturday. The general manager, Mr Frank Thompson, stated to a representative of The Press that the loan was needed for the conversion of trams to the oneman type as described in The Press recently, and also for some track work which would bo necessary. The loan will be submitted ,for confirmation to the meeting of the Tramway Board to be held to-day.
