THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL.

His Excellency the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, accompanied by her Excellency Lady Bledisloe, the Hon. Mrs Daniell, Mrs G. Veal, Mr J. Daniell Jenkins, and Lieutenant J. C. Elworthy, 11. N., A.D.C., returned to Wellington on Saturday night at thp conclusion of a week's stay in Christchurch, which had included a heavy programme of official and social engagements. On Saturday their Excellencies attended the Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting at Riccarton and in the afternoon witnessed the second spell of the League Test match between England and New Zealand at Monica Park. They were given an enthusiastic farewell by a largo crowd in Cathedral square and at tho railway station on their .departure.
