GOVERNMENT'S POLICY ATTACKED.
ADDRESS AT CARTERTON. (PRE3S iSEOCIATIOX TKLECIUM.) CARTERTON, August J3. Mr Peter Kraser, H.l\, addressed a good Meeting at Carterton last ovenitig. Re attacked the Govcrnmctit strongly. Ho referred to the ''inadequacy of the unemployment wage"; stigmatised the Government's policy of land settlement and small farms as "futile"; blamed the immigration policy of previous Governments as the cause of the present condition of the country; condemned the Government for its ''inability to control the financial situation," and stated that taxation must stop. Education costs, he said, had been pared so thinly tha.t they were now under tho minimum. He strongly criticised the pension Cuts and railway "blunders" of the present and previous Governments. He advocated the planned production Of primary produce and the promotion of reciprocal trade with Great Britain and other countries, together with organisation contracts providing for the sale of Dominion products overseas. Land settlement was important, and ho suggested development by means of fertilisers purchased by farmers on long credit. Mr Fra*cr urgea the construction of roads; Government encouragement and assistance for all industries; a reduction in rents and taxes; the establishment of n State Bonk, and reorganisation of th<& banking system and credit resources.
