ST. JOHN'S CHURCH. A social arranged by members of St. John's Ladies' Guild, was held "in the school hall on Friday evening. Music, games, community singing, and competitions were held, and selections by an orchestra, consisting of Messrs H. and W. Gray, Burford, and Massey, of Christchurch, were much enjoyed. Songs were given by Mesdames Hay and Barrett, and Miss Clark. The ac- J companiats were Mrs P. Pitcaithly, and Mr W. Gray. Competitions were won by. Misses J. Xystrom and E. Miller, and Messrs Gray and B. Wilson. Supper was served and the social concluded with the singing of "Auid Lang Sync." Golf. The first round for tlto Godley House trophy was played at Diamond Harbour yesterday, with results as follows: — W. C. Cleary and Miss I. Clcary beat Mr B. More and Mrs More, A. G. Sinclair and Mrs E. Eudkin boat A. Jackson and Miss V. Gower, L. Gant aud Miss M. Cook beat W. Paine and Mrs Paine, N. Thompson and Mrs Thompson beat G. Cooper and Miss IS'. Pitcaithly, T. Bowring and Miss E. Mazey beat J. 11. Collins, and Mrs D. J. Comer, T. Archer, and Mrs Archer beat J. JGower and Mrs E. Cooper. The Lyttelton Golf Club played i medal match at Charteris Bay yesterday, the following being the best cards—X. Derbidgc 02—20—72, C. Plimmcr 90—17—73, H. E. Ayers 82— 8—74, F. Knights 79—5—74, M. L. Page 93—18—73, K. Crawford 101— 24—77. Championship rounds played at Charteris Bay yesterday resulted as follows: Senior, L. Barnard defeated F. Knights at the 20th hole, H. E. Ayers beat L. Gower 4 and 3; junior, X. Derbidge beat H. Fletcher, 4 and 3. Women: Senior, Miss P. Plimmer beat Mrs H, E. Ayers 5 and 4; juniors, Miss K. O'Brien beat Mrs H. G. Banfield 4 and 3, Miss W. White-Parsons beat Mis* E. Sproulo 1 up, Miss H. Sowden beat Miss Betty Bowling 4 and 3. Ladles' Hockey Club Dance. The Lyttelton Ladies' Hockey Club held a carnival dance in the Excelsior Hall on Saturday evening. The proceeds will be used for club equipment. The arrangements were carried out by a committee, comprising Mesdames G. Pattison, A. Burbury, C. Rogers, and Misses X. Burbury, N. Quested, and J. Gosney. The dance music was supplied by the HerdmanFisk Orchestra, of six instruments, and Miss X. Quested provided supper extras. Mr W. Pattison was M.C. An Orange Dance was won by Miss Olga Sergison and Mr A. Brimblecombe and a lucky spot dance by Miss May Voyce and Mr C, Pancoo. Miss M. Anderson and Mr E.
