Tho engagement is announced of Eunice, second daughier of Air and Mrs W. T. Jackson, Linwood avenue, to Malcolm, only son of Mr and Mrs J. Cunnor, Longfellow street, Beckenham. Dr. AHon Peebles and Mrs Peebles, of Washington, D.C., and their little daughter are at present visiting Mrs Peebles's parents. Mr and Mrs A. Selwyn''Bruce, 24 Cashel street west. Mrs Peebles is a graduate of Canterbury College. A very enjoyable bridge party was given at "Bleak House," Ashjmrton, by Mrs H. Stephenson, in aid of the cake stall l'or the Plunket Society's Daffodil Day effort.. Mrs Stephenson was assisted by Mesdames R. Stephenson, E. Collins, and L. R. Clarke. The room was decorated'with spring flowers, and log fires gave a very cosy effect. The prize for the highest score was won by Mrs G. I. Miller; and that for -the sealed number by Mrs W. B. W. Bell.

STUDIO PARTY. Yesterday afternoon at her studio in Bealey avenue, which was decorated with daffodils, violets, and daphne, Miss Lettice Loughnan entertained a number of her youiif friends at a very pleasant musical party. The guest of honour was Miss Margery Turner, who is leaving nest week for England. After tea. Miss Laura Loughnan played Bach's "Prelude,'' Miss Margery Turner played Schumann's "Novelette," Joan Gard'ner sang two French bergerettes, Miss Halmai Lough*an played "Lotus Land" (Cyril Scott), and Miss Loughnan played Bach's "French Suite in ■ G," and the first three movements of Schumann's "Sonata in G Minor." The guests were Mrs R. Burdon, Miss Margery Turner, Halmai Loughnan, Katrine and Laura Loughnan, Joan Gard'ner, Betty Clements, and Egidia Menzies. ■'
