On the Stock Exchango yesterday the vast improvement in the State and Commonwealth jrevenue figures gave rise to a belief that budgets would be balanced without further gerere economies. Banks were supported at late rates, but insurance and gas shares showed little change. Commonwealth 4 per cent. Bonds touched & 100, this being the first transaction in these securities at three figures since Australia's internal public debt waß converted to a lower basis. The movement in Commonwealth loan values toward par has proceeded steadily since the political situation became more stable. Melbourne advices also report that Commonwealth loans had trade at par and above par, marking an important stage in the recovery of investment confidence.
