SUMNER DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Mr G. S. McKenzie presided over the monthly meeting of the committee of the Sumner District Hig'i School. Present:—Mrs E. M. l"ye, Messrs J. Browne, H. 0. Ford, L. H. 'Fee, L. Bryan, and Odell, and the headmaster, Mr H. M. Stevens. Mrs A. J. Malley wrote enclosing the proceeds of a card afternoon arranged by her. Mrs F. Haase wrote offering her rooms for a card eveamg in aid of the school funds, and also offering to provide supper. It was announced that the recent tree lucerne competition had been won by Jack Piatt. The recent concert arranged by Mr V. C. Peters showed a profit of £5. The headmaster's report showed » roll of 45 in the secondary department with an average of 44. The roll of the primary department was 308 and the average for the last weeii 271 7. One hundred and' fifty pupils from Std 111. upwards would attend the Winter Show on August llth. The dental clinic report showed that during the month 28 patients from Redeliffs ha/1 been examined. Miss M. Reese, senior assistant of tAke secondary department, tendered Iter resignation. -The chairman referred to the valuable work done bv Miss Reese, at and since the openina of the secondary department, and general regret was expressed at her retirement after thirty years of teaching A meeting of the Socinl Committee j was fixed for Monday, when arrangements woiild be made for the ball on A"<nist 18th. It was decided to hol<l the annual school fancy dress and dance on Friday, September 16th.
