NEW ZEALANDERS IN QUEENSLAND. TOOWOOMBA DEFEATED. (V SITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —BT ELECTRIC TELE GRAPH— COPYRIGHT.) (Received July 27th, 9 p.m.) 'TOOWOOMBA, July 27. The New Zealand hockey team defeated Toowoomba to-day by four goals to 0. The teams -were as follows: New Zealand—Moore 1 ; Andrews,Parker; Clark, Joblin (captain), Bollard; Eogers, Best, Bay, Turbitt, Wellbournc. Toowoomba—Enfmerson; Andrews, I. Perry j Vagg J Mclntyre, Gatfield; J. Perry, Adamson, Curran, Caldwell, Eeighmuller. New Zealand won the toss and attacked vigorously till, Toowoomba cleared. Lack of support spoiled the visitors' chance. Again attacking, New Zealand forced a penalty corner, but failed to score. Clark was showing great stick work in face of much opposition. New Zealand's brilliant\ play overcome a Toowoomba counter-attack, enabling the forwards to assault the goal vigorously, Bay scoring. New Zealand 1, Toowoomba 0. A ding-dong battle continued till half-time. New Zealand was again to the fore till a clearance by Perry took Toowoomba to the New Zealand circle, but lack of cohesion prevented a score. Again New Zealand attacked, and in spite of Emmerson's wonderful defence Bay again broke through and scored. New Zealand 2, Toowoomba 0. Continuing the offensive, New Zealand pressed round the goal, Wellbourne scoring. New Zealand 3, Toowoomba 0. Toowoomba carried the ball to the New Zealand circle, two shots at goal miscarrying. Wellbourne cleared, forcing Toowoomba back to their own goal circle. However, Emmerson was too good on defence till Eogers scored cleverly a few minutes before time Andrews, Clark, Bay, and Wellbourne were the outstanding players. "New Zealand 4, Toowoomba 0. CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. * MANAGEMENT COMMITTER The Management Committee of the Canterbury Hockey Association met last evening. Present: Messrs H. W. itogers (chairman), TV. H. Down, L. F. IT. Ward, T. Davey, it. Wear, L. Sutherland, G. Graham, J. L. Squire, F. Full wood, H. Snook, P. Berry, and A. L>. Graham. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr C. J. Mather was carried, and the chairman's action in forwarding a letter of condolence wab approved. The Kelson Association wrote asking for a match on August 13th, and the secretary reported that he had advised Nelson that a mid-week match had been arranged with N«Uon. The complaint of a Trinity player in reference to referees commencing matches before referees in early matches were able to play, was referred to the Referees' Association. ■The referee in the Technical v. 'Varsity junior game complained about the criticisms cf the Technical captain, and it was decided to inform, the player through his club that a repetition of the offence would Bni be tolerated. _ It was decided to write to all clabß concerning the nets and posts at Barrington Park to the effect that each team must dismantle and stow one net each.
