Since the installation of the Northcote (Auckland) water supply in 1906, the four-ineh mains in Lake road l®d Onewa road have done constant service in supplying the lower level® of the borough "from the reservoir at the top of Ocean View road. During this period corrosion had considerably Tflduced the capacity of the pipes. &od for pome time given rise to complaints of discoloured water. A length of 22 chains of four-inch main has been taken out of Lake road, and a length Of 45 chains of similar pipes has been t*k«a up from Onewa road. These mains were scraped and painted and the cleat" ed pipes were rclaid- The result has greatly improved the pressor* ,of th« supply to consumers, and eliminated the trouble of rusty water.
